The road to Journey's End.......

In 1995 the Gabb family (from Bridgnorth in Shropshire) purchased this picturesque farm and the surrounding 20ha of vines.

They have invested heavily in both the vineyards and the winery since then. The family philosophy is one of minimum intervention.

Their aim is to create top-quality single-vineyard and appellation wines that are intricate, integrated and true to the terroir of the vineyards and climatic benefits of the region.

In 1995 Roger Gabb, who was founder and Managing Director of Western Wines, was introduced to the Journey's End Vineyard by friends in the trade. His first reaction was 'my wife would divorce me if I was tempted to buy a vineyard'!

However these friends persuaded Roger to drive over and take a look. He took his wife Annie with him and when she saw the beautiful views down to Cape Point in the evening sunshine, she said 'if you must buy a place in South Africa, you cannot beat this!' At this time there was no house, no water and the vines were derelict. Ever since, it has been a labour of love to fulfil their dream.
